The magic of the small steps

We are convinced that great things can come from many small steps. With our "Change Maker €" campaign, we don't want to further strain the term sustainability, but rather create awareness together, be prudent and create a mindset where guests and hosts can support sustainability together. Only awareness that reaches people's hearts can bring long-term change. We are aware that we often use up a lot of resources in tourism and therefore have to and want to give something back.

You are supporting with the Change Maker € innovative sustainable projects with us as hosts. Together we support courageous people in the areas of economics, ecology and social issues. Preferably regional in the Schladming Dachstein region. We are also very happy to hear your ideas for projects or applicants who would like to change something.

It is simple: Donate your CHANGE MAKER € via your hotel bill. Every € counts!

The total of the Change Maker € from our guests will be rounded up to at least the next 1,000 by us Georg & Nadja Niederl privately AND additionally by the Hotel Weiden.

The total donation amount is donated once a year to an innovative, sustainable project or to people who make special contributions in the areas of ecology, economy and social issues. The donation handover will be public and published on this website and on other social networks. The ongoing project can always be found on our website. We would be happy to inform you personally about the project that is currently being supported.

First PROJECT 2024 supported by our CHANGE MAKER €

"BEE HAPPY" ! We found them! ... the "youngest beekeeper in the Schladming Dachstein region" for our first project to support with the Change Maker. Together with beekeeper & "Ursprungbauer" Ronald Royer, we will hand over the Change Maker € in october 2024 - as a bonus, the young beekeeper is warmly invited to Ronald am Hof to find out more about bees & honey. Below we introduce you the 2 faces of those who do a lot of good for nature through beekeeping at a young age!

CHANGE YOUR LIFE? CHANGING LIFE! IN SMALL STEPS.

LUKAS, 13, Sölk

He lives on an organic mountain farm with 15 cows, 25 ewes, 2 domestic pigs, 10 hens, 3 horses, 2 cats, 1 dog and of course many, many bees. Lukas spends the summer with his whole family on the pasture. He has been helping his dad dealing with bees since he was 10 years old. His dad owns 65 colonies, 2 of which belong to Lukas alone. His favourite thing is the honey harvest. He can spend hours uncovering it by hand and he also uses the honey extractor like a pro.

With the Changemaker € Lukas would like to plant hedges, bushes and trees-all for the bees of course! He also wants to create his own honey label.

VINCENT, 10, Öblarn

It took the environmentally conscious young man a few years to convince his parents to let him keep bees. He became very attached to the useful “pets” and now proudly owns 7 colonies. He had already suffered a defeat when a bee disease broke out in the area where he lives. But he mastered that too and has been harvesting around 100 kg of honey since 2021. He often observes the entrance holes where the bees do their work; his passion has now infected his family too. Despite all the work and one or two bee stings, the entire family is happy about the hard-working ladies in the garden.

With the Change Maker €, Vincent wants to expand his “bee empire”! We think that's great.
